Teena Marie
The R&B/Soul world lost one of its queens today. Teena Marie had one of the most unique sounds in the game. Her voice was one of a kind and her range will never be matched. Keeping in the spirit of "TheWayACSeesIt" I'll share my opinion with one of my favorite Teena tracks "Portuguese Love." This is one of those classic Teena Marie records, her voice flawlessly wraps around the music like silk against the body. With this song Teena has you thinking you're on a beach falling in love with a stranger. Something about this track will also have you thinking you can sing like the late soul star. "Portuguese Love" is a definitely a track for singing in the shower, or the car, it's guaranteed to melt all your worries away. She will live on forever through her music so light a candle, press play and relax to the sounds of Teena Marie.

"Love Letter" R. Kelly
R. Kelly is the King of R&B. He always has been, and he always will be. Just as there are things that universally go together i.e. peanut butter & _____, milk & _____, day & _____ hot & ____ etc R. Kelly and R&B will forever be joined. Love Letter only further solidifies that he is King because the title can never be robbed from him. What a way to take us back to the old, old school. His sounds on the LP are reminiscent of Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles and more. This CD is more than pleasing to the ears it is pleasing to the soul. Kellz completely revitalized, rejuvenated and re-birthed an entire genre. No artist in R&B is doing what Kelly did. 15 tracks of pure, un-diluted R&B including a tribute to the late King of Pop. A true diamond amongst many lumps of coal "Love Letter" is a must have, this album is classic.
Mint Condition "You Send Me Swinging"
One of the best feelings one can receive throughout the day is when your ipod lands on that song that will just take you away. Today that song was "You Send Me Swinging" by Mint Condition. I was taken back to the wonderful days when R&B was R&B, there were no surprises, no breaks for dance routines... just straight nod your head, snap your fingers R&B. What a treat, 5:14 of looking off into the air day-dreaming of a love that could send you swinging. A certified anthem for men and women alike, add this to your library and feel the vibe.
"Lay It Down" by Lloyd
Lloyd taps into a one-of-a-kind sound with this track. He combines modern lyrics with an ole' school rift to create a classic R&B recording. This song deserves so much praise. In a grey area where lyrics are over-sexed and tempo's are too fast to be considered R&B Lloyd definitely keeps it authentic and more than delivers. If this is a preview of his upcoming album R&B heads across the universe are in for a treat.
